Issue 1 of Creative Beads & Jewellery will be on sale on 9th April 2010.
Available exclusively from beading, jewellery and craft stores, Creative Beads & Jewellery is full of fabulous projects. We aim to bring you an abundance of designs and styles, using an eclectic array of techniques, tools and materials, to ensure that all tastes are catered for, and to keep you inspired.
If you are just starting out in jewellery making or simply wanting to try something new, the hardest decision is often knowing where to start. With so many materials and techniques to choose from, it can be mind-boggling so, with this in mind, Creative Beads & Jewellery is bursting at the seams with different styles and designs to give you a taste of the fabulous projects and pieces you can create yourself.
We have also enlisted the help and expertise of some of your favourite jewellery and beading stores to ensure that we keep you up-to-date with all the latest styles and trends.
Our resident Bead Doctor is on hand on page 24 to answer all of your beading and jewellery queries, and we bring you an expert guide to all the tools of the trade, techniques and know-how you will need on page 102.
If you fancy making your own jewellery components to adorn your creations, we have plenty for you to choose from.
Samantha Berman delivers a masterclass on Precious Metal Clay on page 38, and Christine Dumont puts her old pasta machine through its paces on page 32 as she lifts the lid on all things polymer clay.
Su Pennick guides you through the art of making your own paper beads on page 58 and Judith Hannington is busy cooking her own glass beads on page 56.
Wire and beads combine effortlessly to create jewellery and non-jewellery items, as Carolyn Schulz demonstrates on pages 28 and 78, using the same tools, techniques and materials to create a whole host of fabulous designs. Page 28 sees Carolyn’s skills and artistic expertise applied to terracotta pots as she gives them a makeover and transforms them into stunningly beautiful individual pieces of home decor, while page 78 shows a more delicate side with intricate pieces of elegant jewellery.
If you’re looking for spring style to brighten up your outfit, Judith Hannington gives us the low down on seed beads on page 18 with a whimsical collection of flower-inspired seed bead creations. Perfect for adding to hairclips and necklaces, rings and chokers, these simple designs can be dressed up or down and the colours simply adapted to suit your wardrobe or mood.
Staying with seed beads but with a different style entirely, Debbie and Sarah Millsop put a seed bead stringer through its paces with stunning results, so be sure to turn to page 92 to check out their stylish creations.
We would love to hear from our readers, so please get in touch and if there is anything you would like to see featured in a future issue, do let us know.

Will definitely be taking a look. Looks full of lovely ideas. Like the cover as it makes you want to see more
See advert for this in another mag and wanted to subscribe, but will not let me start from issue one. Being disabled and no craft shop close by seems I may miss out, and if do will stop my subscribtion in protest.
Very pleased to see a new magazine like this – I take it that this mag is related to ‘Creative Cardmaking’ – order on the way
Very disappointed – your advertisement in Papercraft Essentials showed a different front cover with the statement that Issue 1 included several items of beads etc. I queried this and was told that this was correct and therefore I decided to subscribe. This was not the case – different front cover and no extras and the bottom edge of the magazine was wet. Not sure if I want to continue.
Hello Mary
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with issue one. The cover used in the advert was produced two months ago so that we had a visual representation of the magazine before issue one was completed so this is why the cover has changed. The advert stated the type of content that issue one would feature and I can confirm all the areas have been covered, it did not state that there would be free items with the magazine. We are sorry if you feel you have been misled
I would be more than happy to replace your copy if it has been damaged in transit so please email me your address at info@practicalpublishing.co.uk
Kind regards
Daniel
Have just seen an advert for this magazine, none of my local shops are stocking it. I looked at your subscription offer, which is now closed and am reluctant to spend over £50 on an unknown magazine, especially as some of the comments are a bit negative or from people who haven’t actually read the magazine. I live in Hertfordshire and work in London perhaps you could let me know where I can find a copy of the magazine, I do like to look before I buy. This is just one of several magazines available on this subject and I really would like to know if you have anything new to offer before I subscribe. The magazine also needs to be better publicised if you wnat people to buy it – none of my jewellery making friends has heard of it neither has my bead group.
Hello Gillian
We are offering subscriptions to the magazine for just £7.78 per quarter (40% saving a year) at present so if you would like to take advantage of this please click on this link http://www.practicalpublishing.co.uk/6001
Kind regards
Daniel
I like the magazine very much but am frustrated that some pages don’t tell you where to get the beads used in the designs. I’m trying to find the frosted tubing used in the memory wire bracelets but no luck!
Hi
My feedback would be this:
1. It is very old-fashioned to have to apply for giveaways with a ‘postcard per item’. Nearly all your rivals allow application on-line or at the very least one postcard to cover all the items on offer. Your method is expensive and wasteful.
2. I thought some of the designs were repeated too many times. I liked the pass holders but did we really need multiple versions of the same?
Val, Bijoux Beads stock similar tubing. The colours may not be the same but you may find the info. useful all the same. They have a website.
Hello There,
First of all I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everybody who was involved in the production of this great magazine. I purchased it at my local Hobbycraft store and was very impressed. I am writing to ask whether as issues progress and a solid readership is established you would be interested in accepting contributions from your readers.
I am very much a novice jewellery maker and have recently started a blog aptly titled ‘The Secret Diary of a Novice Jewellery Maker’, which is my own personal record of my journey, starting as a complete amateur to (hopefully) attaining great success.
I have sent a link with this message directly to my blog page for you to peruse if you wish to.
Thanks again for a great magazine and taking the time to read this. I look forward to your response.

We are stockists of this magazine, but be sure to get your copy fast, as we sold our first batch in less than 10 days !
Hi!
so if anyone could tell me where i might find them I would be very grateful!
I really like the first issue, which I stumbled upon today in my local Hobbycraft store. Lots of lovely ideas and clear pictures accompanied with good directions of how to achieve the finished article.
I agree with the above comment about listing where you can buy the beads from – I really like the daisy beads in the article using memory wire and have spent the whole evening looking online with no success
Tracey
Not the exact ones you want but Beads for Beaders stock Czech glass flowers in loads of colours (Opaque Yellow is the nearest match) which are 12mm, i.e. the right size. There is a website.
Dear Daniel (or someone from the magazine) seeing as I’ve found items for Val and Tracey perhaps you should hire me as a researcher?!
Hi Deb!
much appreciated!
Thank you for your help
I agree…someone from the magazine should give you a job coz I couldn’t find any beads like the ones in the article, and you managed it!
Thanks Tracey!
You’re very welcome. Hope it works out for you and you make the bracelet you want. Perhaps you can send it to the magazine?
Good luck.
Ooh Deb, you’re very confident…I wouldn’t want to mess with you!
Hi Debbie
I’m a pussycat but I also find that, in life, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
I notice no-one from the magazine is answering any more. Do you think it will be a ‘one issue wonder’, I wonder (forgive the pun).
Hi Debbie
Sorry for the lack of response. All the team have been busy making issue 2 as great if not better than issue 1! If you have any editorial or customer service related matters it’s best to contact us directly as sometimes things can be missed on a forum.
For general information please email info@practicalpublishing.co.uk and for queries relating to subscriptions please email subscriptionenquiries@practicalpublishing.co.uk
Kind regards
Daniel
Sorry that we’ve not been responding to your posts for a while but I can assure you that there will definitely be more issues of Creative Beads & Jewellery! We’ve been listening to everyone’s comments to try to help develop the magazine to bring you exactly what you want!
If you want to go over to our forum at Crafts on the Net – http://www.craftsonthenet.com and leave your feedback & comments etc in there then we will be able to use this information to improve the magazine issue by issue
Hi all,

lindsey.hopkins@practicalpublishing.co.uk
Thanks
Linds
Having just found issure three of your magazine I was wondering if it was possible to get hold of issues one and two.
Patricia.
Hi Patricia. They should be appearing in the Practical Publishing Shop later this week.
Could you tell me where I can purchase the magazine from in Lincoln? I would like to have a look through before I subscribe as I am a novice jewellery maker and as such dont always understand the ‘jargon’ used in other jewellery mags.
Many thanks.
Hi
I have been beading for many years but i still like to buy a magazine or two for new ideas. This is the best new mag on the market, i still stick to my old favorite and have tried and given up on many new mags over the years.
I look forward to next months mags, keep up the good work.
