The Daniel George Fund
Daniel is a 15 year old lad, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We are beginning to raise funds to give Daniel something that most of us take for granted, a special family holiday.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive muscle wasting disease. Boys with Duchenne are typically diagnosed before the age of five. Their muscles swell and joints become restricted. They are easily fatigued and have difficulty keeping up with others their age. Most Duchenne boys need a wheelchair between the ages of 10 and 12. The simplest of tasks, such as holding a fork or turning over in bed, becomes very difficult.
Daniel George, of Mons Avenue, Hebburn, and a pupil at Bamburgh School in South Shields, is a 14 year old boy who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was diagnosed at the age of 2, his mobility has steadily worsened culminating in him being totally wheelchair dependant by the age of 12.
Daniel and his family have been through so much, yet despite his disability Daniel has given loads back himself by raising funds for charities, such as The Dogs For The Disabled, Children In Need, appearing on the BBC on both occasions. He has also collected awards because of the type of young man he is, for example Pride of South Tyneside. Now is the time to raise funds for Daniel to give the family the opportunity to spend special time together and to leave his troubles behind, if only for a short time.

Daniel George is an inspiration to us all, at the age of 15, he has, despite the adversities and against all odds, demonstrated a bravery, that is not only selfless but is a benchmark for us all to aspire towards. He is a tremendous ambassador to disabled children and South Tyneside, he is simply a very brave and courageous young man, a hero!
Friends of Daniel, Paul and Jackie Ryan started the website for Daniel which led family members Carol and Jaqi to hold a craft day in support of Daniels fund. Family members Carol Watkins and Jaqi Wright are organising a Fund Raising day on the 8th May in addition to the fund raising night on the 28th May (details on Daniel's website). There is a coffee day with tombola and raffle, plus they'll be selling cards for Daniel's special trip.
Any donations of handmade cards would be greatly appreciated and should be sent up to the end of May to be sold at both events to:
Carol Watkins, 30 Ironbridge Road, Madeley, Telford, TF7 5JU
Jaqi Wright, 23 Hedworth Lane, Boldon Colliery, Tyne & Wear, NE35 9HZ
For details on how to donate in other ways, information on all the events being organised or to leave Daniel a message to let him know you care visit www.thedanielgeorgefund.com.
